koumaris 0 Posted January 20, 2013 Seascape in Kyparissos village in Mani, Greece. This shot was taken today in Kyparissos, a small village in Mani peninsula in Greece. Kyparissos is built over the ruins of ancient Kenipolis. Ancient Kenipolis was a religion center during the Roman era, because it was close to cape Tainaro, where ancient Greeks believed that are the gates to Hades, the underworld. Nearby was the famous temple of Poseidon of Tainaro. The city of Kenipolis was destroyed around 500ac by a strong earthquake. Ruins of the city are still visible today. Some ruins caught my eye today in that rock. I don't know if those are some of the remains of ancient Kenipolis, but anyway they are very old! The show was taken with a Nikon D300, a 18-200Vr and a Hi-Tech big stopper. The exposure was 136sec. Hope you like it! Link to comment
