Hi Latil - I like this photo a lot.  Nice tone, nice contrast and a very clear and sharp image.  I prefer it to your color photo of the same subject.  There's much to draw the eye - the house, the tree, the tracks in the snow and the mountains beyond.   It's deceptively complex.  Nice job!

I agree, this version is better for me, mainly because of composition (to much on the left in colour version). But in fact both of them are very good.

Regards.

Thanks to both of you for your reading of this photo, and for detailing and comparing good points and less good ones, that's helpfull to me.

I'll take your tips into account for further shots.

Regards

This is my favourite of your nice collection of winterscapes. Firstly, it is minimalist with few distractions from the main attraction of our interest, the old decaying building. Next it has what old time B&W purists considered to be essential, the pure black in the widows & pure white surrounding the small stones acting as a reference point to judge the other tones. The blacks in the windows really make the structure stand out. I must complement on your processing skills, all your images in this series have a full range of tones making for very interesting images. Best Regards-Ross
