street Is this really going to make me pretty, daddy?

I think the background is what makes this photo. Without the background it would still be a cute photo of a little girl, but with it you get an explanation of why the girl looks like that. The reflection makes me wonder what is going on the street thats interesting to this girl. The reflection gets the viewer more involved, and makes them look at the picture longer. Composition is perfect, and the lighting is very natural. well done.

Neal, the shot was taken at a city festival. There was tons of stuff going on, and the girl is actually looking at her father who is watching a street performer, rather than his daughter.

The pic is well executed and the young lady has a beautiful expression.

Interesting expression on the girl's face. What exactly is Daddy doing to her hair? What is that on her head? And who are all those people in the background? Are we looking at them through glass, or is it a reflection?

 

There are just too many distracting elements in this photo that take away attention from the main subject.

Fun shot. Certainly makes you wonder what is going on, and what that bemused smile is all about. A little busy in the background and more of the hand in the top left might be a good idea. Good exposure control.

OK, some more background. This little girl was getting colored braids done in her hair, by an artist, during a city festival. That's the hand. The actual artist was, ummm.... well.... let's say.. not artistically pleasing (I got other shots of this scene where you can see the guy - will try to post one of those tomorrow). She was watching her daddy, who was watching other streets artists performing (and wasn't paying attention to his little girl).
