wolfgangarnold 142 Posted December 6, 2012 a very affectionate portrait. The open door provides a very inviting atmosphere, while round objects (the washing pan, the kettle, his hat), overarched by the cars' roof, form a subtle, pleasant rhythm that ties the elements together and link them to him. garypeck 0 Posted December 6, 2012 Always - always level the camera!Busy surrounding details are really competing with you objective.Use post techniques to drive the eye - visually and tonally toward your main subject. Link to comment
sgust 1 Posted December 7, 2012 I have to agree with Gary, his version is a lot less busy and lets you focus on the subject better. Nice image none the less. Link to comment
wolfgangarnold 142 Posted December 7, 2012 your proposal made me re-think my comment - and your changes. On technical level, your proposal makes sense and is correct. Especially, dodging and burning help focusing on his face. However, to me one of the key qualities of this photo is the casualness and authenticity which is achieved (deliberately or not) by the 'street-like' esthetics. I even don't mind that the dominating lines are not parallel to the edges - slanted lines rather add to casualness. Link to comment
Alex_Es 388 Posted December 7, 2012 Level or not, this is a fantastic documentary shot. That is all that needs to be said at this point. Link to comment
