The joys of suburban life

This seems to be reaching ridiculous proportions. This is the third week

I have had to put up with all the noise, starting at 8am each day. (So

much for sleeping in). Every weekday they come down the road, using

power equipment to create these holes, slightly larger each iteration.

They put traffic cones around them and then move up the street, making

noise, buildings rattling, windows vibrating, etc. Then they fill the holes,

compacting the earth with some kind of vertical ram, that creates a low

intensity earthquake and then they asphalt over them and go home.

Next morning at 8am they are back and repeat the procedure. Week

after week. Day after day. I would be a rich man if I just had the value

of all the asphalt they have poured and then removed. Only the

weekends are quiet. Maybe they are playing a game, called something

like "Let's look busy so people will pay taxes for our wages!"

 I had something similar going, on a reduced scale, when I was doing electrophysiology. Without doubt Jerry it is to stabilize the ground and reduce camera shake ... : -)

Great shot. Just be happy it's not like the sink holes we get in Florida. Our neighbors on the next block spent $165,000 shoring up the sink hole under their house. Luckily we all carry sink hole insurance.
