The photo was taken when we were already going back to the car. I used

ND 4x filter and an exposure of 10s to smooth the waves. Your thoughts

and comments are really welcome.

The long exposure makes it very pieceful, as do the numerous shades of grey.  the composition is good. I only would like to see an even  bigger version to reveal more details of the strip of land in the distance.

Dear Ulla, I'm so happy to meet you again and a so wonderful B/W! This image can seem simple but it need the "complexity" of a "simple" mind/eye! Ciao, Maurizio.

@ Hans: That is a pier at the back and I do have to say it looks much better on a larger photo, because it is very sharp. But I love to make peacefull photos, I would love to do long exposure, but for that you need an interesting site, appropriate for such a photo. I made the most I could at the sea, but sadly I need better filter (ND4 not just ND4x like I have) for making photos like that by day, so for now I am depending just on the start of the evening for about half an hour. Thank you so much for your comment it is very very welcome!

@ Radu: For me it gives a feeling of soothing space, somewhere you can relax and forget the troubles of the day. Thank you for your nice comment, I appritiate it!

@ Mau: I had to make a few of them to get what I wanted and I used my new remote so there was no movement at all to get the pier so sharp. I think it is very difficult to make a simple photo, just like you mentioned! Thank you my friend for you comment!

@ Maurizio: Thank you so much for your dropping by and taking the time to comment.

@ Ruud: I waited for a perfect time, it was almost dark, so that I could play with the exposure and did a few "test" photos, but I am a bit proud of this one, it's my first BW long exposure. Was thinking of laeving it in color but this was much calmer and more striking. Thank you so much for every comment you make!

You are right Ulla, this one is so much more striking. The image appears so well balanced. Eveh thought the 'calm ' of nature is interrupted by the 'industy', it is actually very impressive. Even though life can get so busy and crazed (ie the factories), there is the calm of 'taking a step back' and seeing what 'nature has to offer'. I am so sorry I missed this one earlier, ver nice work in black and white.

Gail : It so difficult now to find the time to really work on the photos, but I still try to post one per week. So I have to be more picky at what I process and what I photo. I think it is a crazy life and a person needs some calming down every now and then and photos like this help us achieve a few moments of peace. Thank you for commenting I miss your insightful way of seeing more than others.

Love, Ulla
