This gentleman is a labourer in the Gulf.

For six days a week, he arrives at work, by bus, at 6am. He then works

a backbreaking day which lasts around 12 hours, sometimes in heat well

in excess of 40C. At the end of the day, he gets back on the bus and

heads to one of the massive labour camps where he is housed. He goes

home about once every two years. For all this, he is paid about $200 a

month.

I have been photographing him and his colleagues over the last couple of

weeks as they finish their working day. And they are Bollywood Stars,

every one of them. My time with them has, so far, been one of the most

rewarding photographic experiences of my life. They have played up to

the camera, laughed at me and themselves, and been unfailing polite.

It's an honour to take their pictures.

Thank you for any constructive feedback.

Cheers

I really enjoyed reading your foreword, it was very touching and informative. What an honour and a priviledge it must be to share thier lives, albeit for a short period of time.   I like the honest open aspect of this portrait and the clarity and dof are flawless, it would be interesting to see these people in a less formal way though, as they go about thier business getting on the bus etc.

Compliments!

Its a wonderful image. The angle the DoF and the compositional approach all work seamlessly well to create this fantastic portrait. Admittedly the F/1 is stunning in helping to draw the viewer into the shot, to the eyes that speak to us. great work overall
