Out and about on a dark and foggy evening I managed to grab this. I

think it is a bit noisy, could be my post work but any advice welcome.

Thanks for looking.

Well done! The light is unusual, making the background seem almost like a fairy tale, but the person in the foreground seems very real and rather foreboding - very nice effect!!!

Thank you for your thoughts and comments.

I have done a quick rough convert to B/W and cropped slightly, I haven't done much night time work so this is all a bit new to me.

Regards

Gareth.

Hi Gareth,

Wonderful image with great lighting effect.  I like them both, there is a sense of mystery about this image, would look great as cover of a mystery book.  Take care, Patsy

I agree with Patsy - and I find it interesting that the colour version actually seems more foreboding than the b/w.

Hi Gareth,

A well developed mood presented here.

You referenced "noise", but I added a small amount of noise to further develop the density in the atmosphere forward of the man. I cropped the image to better show the effect that this technique has on an image like this.

Best Regards,  Mike

Hi Mike

I am interested in the methods you imploy to enhance an image, although in this case some work is needed to remove some bright spots that have developed.

My editing skills are very limited!

I still prefer the original though as it was very much the effect and scene I was trying achieve.

Many thanks for your time and advice.

Best regards

Gareth.

This is a nice and moody shot with the intense oranges.  I love that you have such harsh contrast in the foreground with your main subject standing among the trees, yet you can make out the definition of the tree in the background.  Makes for a cool layering of your scene.  I think that the crop that you did in the BW version really brings the image into perfect perspective (though still keeping the color).

Hi Stephen, thanks very much for your insight.

I have a few variations of this image now having played around with cropping, B/W, colour changes etc yet I still keep coming back to the original. I think prehaps because I had an image/mood in mind when I took the shot, and the result was what I was aiming to acheive. It has certainly caused interest with some of my friends.

All the best

Gareth.
