This photo, like my post earlier today, was taken on the highway between

Boulder and Estes. It was cloudy and late in the day. What stopped me

was the flashing signs placed by Colorado DOT. "Do not stop on the

Road". So I pulled off and took a look ;-) Breath taking colors! I came

back 3 days later hoping for better light but most of the leaves had fallen.

Aloha.

Absolutely breathtaking! It looks like a river of lava flow, slowly diminishing in the distance with all the steam (fog) adding to the spectacle!

Beautiful! Looks like a forest fire!

BTW, you probably know that the Aspen is one of the largest and oldest living organisms.  Each clone changes color at a slightly different time so we get to enjoy the splashes of varying  colors.

From a Wiki page; Pando (Latin for "I spread"), also known as The Tremblilng Giant, is a clonal colony of a single male Quaking Aspen determined to be a single living organism by identical genetic markers and on massive underground root system.  The plant is estimated to weigh collectively 6 million kg making it the heaviest known organism. The root system is estimated to be 80,000 years old.

Ah, wilderness...

Steve, you are still teaching!  Thanks for that piece of knowledge.  I thought some fungi was the largest organism, but I am particularly pleased it's the colorful Aspen instead.  Aloha.

Who knows, the  "Humongous Fungus"  is certainly a contender..  and the Honey Mushrooms from it are a lot more tasty than a piece of wood.  Aspen pizza?  I think not... (-:

Spectacular colors and clarity!  I also thought it looked like a valley of fire almost, especially in the distance.  I see we use the same lens, although I use a 60D camera. I love that lens, and you're doing some spectacular work with it!  Because of these vivid colors, it would be tempting to push up the saturation, but you've done just enough to be striking but still believable.

Wanderful Autumn colours, and very nice focus to the view. The sky with clouds adds alot and making the image different and original. Beautiful.
