jenkins 0 Posted October 15, 2012 I love to talk to my Gran she is 96 years old born at the end of WW1, she has had a far more testing life than mine, she has an amazing memory and a great character. Link to comment
stp 6 Posted October 17, 2012 Interesting light and toning you've used here. It would be such a privilege for me to have a family member with so many years of experiencing life and history with whom I could talk. Link to comment
jenkins 0 Posted October 17, 2012 Thanks for commenting all, Stephen it is a privilege talking to a family member of this age they have experienced such a different life. When she was pregnant with her first born my Grandad went off to War, he didn't return for 7 years. He wrote to her constantly during that time. When it cam to the toning I settled on something a little warmer than this in the end as this was a little too cold, I will try and attach the final version.CheersSimon. Link to comment
stp 6 Posted October 18, 2012 Simon, I like the slightly warmer look for a couple of reasons, one being that she is now set off better from the background (I think that's a plus; some viewers might not agree). Link to comment
stephanie_c1 1 Posted October 18, 2012 lovely tribute..photo worthy of a thousand stories,, i prefer your updated version. i dont think the greyish tones work well here, she could use a little more tone .. the photo has so much potential. i just feel it could be warmer for me anyway... amazing portrait! jenkins 0 Posted October 18, 2012 I prefer the updated version also as Stephen says it gives a little more separation, I actually processed this in a room with terrible light and didn't like it as much in the morning. Thanks also Stephanie I don't often lean towards the cold side of toning with people anyway, I found this quite foreboding and seemed to fit her slightly worried look. Link to comment
