That puts a different twist on things, old "rocky" sinking up to his neck, not in quick sand exactly..........more like slow sand. It must have taken a few thousand years since the glacier gouged its route through this valley for him to sink thus far in the accumulating soils.

I like your analogy though, it kind of suits the expression on his face.

Yes, I do like the terrain to look rugged and wild, and at this time in the morning it remains undisturbed from walkers and rock climbers etc.
