Wow, this is great.  The oval layers on the foreground rocks are nicely defined, and the suns rays only add to the scene.  This really captures a sense of the place, IMO.

Thank you Stephen. I saw these particular rocks in a photo I found on a stock agency web site. I had given up finding them on the Saturday I was there and shot a different foreground with an unimpressive sunset. While I was shooting I recognized that spire in the upper right over my shoulder and found these soon after, too late to shoot. I spent the night in Shelby and hoped for a nice sunset Sunday. I was stoked when the sun went down. I looked for this spot last year too but couldn't find it.

I'm jealous. I would love to hike this area. Very cool subject and I like your interpretation of them.

Joseph Tury lives....... Was happy to see your name rise to the top of my friend list recently. You haven't been around much lately. Good to hear from you. This is a great place to spend a day. No trails.....just wander around in all the strange rocks. Thanks for the comment Joe.

Raymond.... thank you sir.

This is great! The details in the oval stones are wonderful and the colour brought out by the sun adds to the beautiful tone of the landscape.

Wanghan.... Thanks very much.

Pedro...... nice of you to say.

Robert....... I'm glad too. I was focused on finding these particular rocks but I'm sure there are other nice shots to be had. Thanks for commenting.

Pekka....... Thank you sir.

Lester..... Glad you like it. I think there are many other possibilities for some nice foregrounds. Might be interesting with some snow in the mix.

I'm a bit late visiting this one, but I'm so glad I didn't miss it altogether!  The rock formations are spectacular and you have controlled the light really well.  The foreground rocks look like a multi headed serpent.  Superb photograph!

Best Regards

Alf
