I was waiting for you, my dear Ulla and finally I can enjoy this deep and wonderful portrait where we can only imagine the thoughts of this girl, imagine but not know: she is her own secrets, in her thoughts can be all and its contrary.Ciao, Maurizio.

Ulla,

Outstanding portrait, I like the colors and the way the wind plays with her hair. Light and tonality ad very well to this image. Thank you for sharing.

Kind regards,

Herman

Ulla,

She is a very pretty girl. You have focused well on her eyes. I like her skin tone and the nice soft lighting.

I especially like her eye make-up, but catchlights would have made her eyes stand out even better.

I think the background color is a bit too close to her shirt color. Her shirt and the background color kind of blend together. Perhaps if she was positioned farther from the background, to allow the background to go father out of focus, she would have appeared to be more separated from the background.

I am not sure I like the horizontal format with this vertical subject? If you want to leave it horizontal, it might be best to move her to her left (or crop a little off the right side of the frame), so that she was more visibly balanced within the frame.

I like her expression and find the slight smile somewhat whimsical -- like she is looking at something she shouldn't be looking at. For a portrait, I would have had her making eye contact with the camera (viewer) or following the line of the nose. It is natural to look where your head is pointing. If looking off to the side the viewer doesn't know what she is looking at. You really should show what she is looking at or provide a reason that she is not looking where her head is pointing. If this was part of a series of portraits, this might very well work. Eyes generally look better with some of the whites of the eyes showing on each side of the irises.

You have cropped just a tiny bit into her head. It think it would be better to crop into her head more like you really mean to do it, or leave some headroom above her. To me a slight head crop can appear to be an error by the photographer. Perhaps just a personal feeling.

Nice shot,

Mark

your angle enhances the mystery, Ulla, like we're just getting a peek at her,,, the brown color in eyes really pop to draw us into her mind... and the blended in bg keeps our focus entirely on the mysterious mona lisa expression ... fine work! ;-} dp

@ Ruud: You are always so supportive and nice, I'm really happy when i see your comment :)

@ Laurent: The moment I captured this photo, I knew it will be special, so nice that you noticed it :)

@ Mau: I know I'm posting much less than before, so I try to post really just the "good stuff" :). But she's becoming a teenager and that kind of expressions will be much more frequent than before I imagine. Thank you my photo would be empty without your kind words!

@ Herman: I love the light and tender and unsaturated colors for a portret and I got really lucky with the wind and the timing. I think she looks better in cold colors, I tryed more vivid (and warmer) ones but it didn't go with her at all. Thank you for you very nice comment, I feel honored by it.

@ Mark: Yeey, I was really happy when I saw your comment under another one of my photos, thank you for taking the time to teach me things about real photography. I know I repeated a few mistakes from the last photo you commented on, but I'm trying to get better. I am very honored that you comment on my photos and really gratefull too.

@ Vincente: Thank you for your comment, I am very honored I got "a thums up" from such an expert.

@ Donna: I think this is the best photo I did that weekend and I was really saving it for an inspiration in PP. I am really happy to get such a nice and perfect reviews, and I want to thank you for giving one of them. That kind of respons is what keeps me going on with photography and I must say, I love it more and more! So thank you for being my strenght and support!

Love to all, Ulla

I really like this composition Ulla, your layering is very well done, I like her posture, with eyes looking to the side. A very intimate image, well done!

@ Gail: I think this is one of my favorite photos, I have already bought a frame for it and it's waiting in the living room. Thank you for your nice and warm comment, and I'm happy you like the layers :).
