I prefer this sky to the other one with the yellowish sky which makes me think that a monsoon and maybe even a typhoon is on the way. I'm curious whether this is shot in HDR.

Jack thanks for your visit.  It is the raining season here and the sky is constantly in motion and loaded with drama.  This is a single shot but i enhanced the contrast in PS with Topaz Adjust in this shot i applied a cooling filter to eliminate some of the yellows you saw on the other image.  Great to hear from you.

Michel, I have not heard the word battambang before, but this is a great sky and a fine image.  I'd appreciate your reply to let me know what topaz adjust is and where it is located in PS. I am using CS6 and LR4.

Thanks again, Michel. Larry

Larry thanks for your visit and kind words.  As you found out Battambang is a province on the western edge of Cambodia south of the great Tonle Sap lake on the Thai border.  To answer your other question, Topaz Adjust is a plug-in sold by Topaz Lab; it is compatible with PS and can be used directly in LR as well. You can find out more about Topaz Adjust and other Topaz products at: http://www.topazlabs.com/  (standard disclaimer: I am not associated with Topaz Lab, and i do not get any commission or reward from them).  Thanks again for your visit and taking the time to leave a comment.  Regards - michel

For me, most sky pictures aren't strong enough images to stand on their own.  This is an exception.  It's a remarkable sky, and you've done well to minimize the land and really let the sky be the star.  Beautifully processed also, with vibrant colors and good contrast without being overdone.  Bravo!

An awe inspiring scene that must have been breath taking to witness! I agree with Christal about the prioritisation of the main attraction, the sky! And the small strip of land is desolate enough to allow the cloudscape to take the full glory! Beautifully done!

Best Regards
