tim_vanblaricom 0 Posted July 13, 2003 Ron, I just mounted a shot similar to this in my home so it drew my attention. Peacocks, I've found to actually be not as easy to shoot well as one would think. First off, focus, and where the focal point actually is is extremely critical. Since you can normally get very close to these big beauties if the point of focus is not in the area of the eyes, the blue bulbuous tissue at the top of the head can appear soft, as in this case, and it distracts from the picture. Also I find these shots present much better if you can catch the bird with its head slightly turned so you can catch one of the eyes, then, unless your really lucky, a quick magnetic lasso in PS of the eye, up the saturation, tweak the color balance and levels to bring out the color and you have a beautiful peacock. I think your in the ballpark with the crop, showing the full wingspread makes the unique head and beautiful sheen of the feathers just off the body too small. Link to comment
ron_day___greensboro__nc 0 Posted July 15, 2003 Interesting. The spreaded feathers appear greener in your image with the head clearly more pronounced. Beautiful bird. Link to comment
