I would greatly appreciate any help you can give me. I love the lines and

colour of this photo but would like the advice of those far greater and wiser

than I to chime in!

Hi Josh, would want to help, but I need to know, is it technical or aesthetic tips? The image is clearly not sharp enough, and the colours could actually do with some work.  But then again I do not know what software you have to help you. The composure is good, nicely centred.  I would dare to say that you cropped and enlarged a wee bit?  There are ways to make this sort of thing more exciting, appealing.  Not because what you saw was not appealing, rather that the camera rarely captures/records what the eye sees.  So we need to sometimes tweek things at the processing stage in order to compensate for what the camera can not do.  This is not the same as manipulation, it's creative interpretation, or creative compensation for the limitations of the camera.

I agreee with what Chris said but actually you achieved excellent detail in this macro. Pink can often turn out overstaturated but you did not have this problem here. If anything you may want to try to make the yellow colours in the centre 'pop' a bit. As Chris mentioned, if we knew the software you are using, perhaps we could help. Write any time and if I can think of anything to suggest in the perameters of your Software, I will certainly try to help, otherwise, a beautiful capture!

Kindest regards, Gail

I am not expert in photography, Josh, but I will give my impressions about this picture.  I really like it, specially the transparency of the petals and the delicacy of the lines.  The fact that the image is perfectly centered is also very good.  The colors are beautiful, but as Gail says, you need the center of the flower stands out more, so, if you are using photoshop you can "light up" this area selectively. Otherwise, You can give more brightness  and contrast to the picture with any software.

Regards,

Rosario.
