You are getting better and better, the perfection of this photo is stunning, the tones, the work, the movement... It's like something forgotten, some wish, some yearning for a "good old times" not just traveling with a train, but for sentiments, values... It's fantastic!

Love, Ulla

You did interpret my intention. I had wanted them to appear to be coming out of the dark with a bit of 'night glow' highlighting the sides and the area that they were emerging from. Experimmental, but seemed to work. I have more work I could do on it when I have the time. Have gotten some great suggestions. Thankyou so much my new friend, for your gracious words and the time taken to visit and show your support and encouragement!

I do appreciate your visits, it is like having my 'Professor' visit and I'm getting a 'gold' star to put in  my  'binder'. Many thanks for taking the time, and I am glad that you are pleased with my work!

Most Sincerely, Gail

I love the subject of the photograph and your narrative equally.  The little windows we view on PN are so insighful of the other environments and worlds that exist. Conditons that we can only imagine, are brought to life. People, places, expressions, feelings and even political situations can be experienced in sometimes  the most tangible of ways through the photographs we share.

I like the dark gritty steam engines of your image, it brings back memories of when we used to play on the railway, diesel trains were taking over but the ocassional steam train would still run and the excitement at seeing one is still vivid in my memory.  Wonderful nostalgic image!

Best Regards

I'm glad this image brought memories back for you. Amazing what playggrounds we had as a child. And the trains, were so enormous back then (at least in our minds). I've always been fascinated with Train Stations. As a child I thought they were like a 'Portal' to another world. I had never been on a train as a young child. I wondered where you would be transported to once you entered that door. I only saw reflections of what went on inside, lining up to talk to the man behind the wicket - and just what were the magic words you had to tell him before you were granted passage through that other door.  Many thanks Alf for sharing your thoughts on this comp, truly appreciated.

Gail,

Caught this one going across the "Members Daily Sampling" of the Homepage this morning and it definately caught my attention!

Has that nostalgia industrial age thing going for it. Especially with those subtle tones and composition.

Your narrative to go along with the photograph was very interesting too. Yes, I too get great pleasure from the journeys taken through the eyes of everyone here on PN!

Very well done!

Regards always,

Jim j.

So digitally alterated that it is almost hard to decode at first glance. And that is exactly what makes it a great picture with an intriguing atmosphere!
