davidmccracken 2 Posted August 20, 2012 A casual snapshot! Just wondering if it has any appeal. Feedback appreciated. Link to comment
aqualarue 0 Posted August 20, 2012 It's a fantastic piece of portraiture for a casual snapshot, as a set-up in a studio it would be great also, but the fact that it is casual makes it even more brilliant. Having said that, regardless of casual or staged I feel you have captured something personal and very natural. There is nothing Faux about her expression. It's great. Link to comment
alfbailey 4 Posted August 20, 2012 The natural uncontrived aspect of the image is very appealing, and as Chris has communicated the results I suspect would be considered as a great shot from a well equipped studio.Sincere Compliments! Alf Link to comment
davidmccracken 2 Posted August 22, 2012 Chris, Very kind words. I fear it is the beauty of the model that makes the image. Everything else was just luck. Alf, If one person says something, it is not always believable. The fact that you are echoing Chris's words is very humbling. Thanks to you both. Link to comment
aqualarue 0 Posted August 22, 2012 Hi David, You said: "I fear it is the beauty of the model that makes the image." I have to emphatically encourage you here, it is not her beauty. (Yes indeed she is very beautiful), but have you looked at dozens and dozens and hundreds of beautiful women in photographs, Mmm..I have, and am not impressed by at least 87.5% of them, mostly because they are staged, positioned, glamourous and we are seduced by their physical appearance - and as far as I am concerned the photographer could close his eyes and photograph a model and get a good viewing response. What makes this image outstanding is what I previously said, it is not her beauty that seduces but her natural unmasked un-faked posture and appearance. well done, again. Link to comment
sranga 2,136 Posted August 22, 2012 great picture. I think it is her level of 'absorption' in what she is doing or thinking that elevates the picture so much. Link to comment
morophaenixmau 27 Posted August 23, 2012 A David a bit different from the usual, bravo also in "Portrait". Link to comment
davidmccracken 2 Posted August 27, 2012 Chris, They say a picture is worth a thousand words. Well! That may be true. All I can say is thanks for all your words. They are very humbling. Ranga, You may have a point. She does seem 'detached' as a subject. Maurizio, Sometimes it is good to be different. I didn't think this was too different. Thanks everyone. Link to comment
