thankyou for your feedback Grayham. I found it challenging last year, photographing in these lighting conditions, I am going to read the tutorial on PN about Concer Photography. It was approaching dusk when I took this. I did not want to use flash, there were the stage lights shining on the 'blown' guitar, and also other colured lights overall. I tried to see if I could fix the 'guitar' but there was a great loss of detail. Even editing in Raw, I found it difficult. But then again there is a lot for me to learn about editing in Raw.  Thankyou for your critique and encouragement Grayham. I decided to go with the 'hi key/grunge' cross, as it seemed an OK choice because of the lighting problems that existed.  Sincere thanks and regards, Gail

I really like that "Starkness" that Grayham mentioned, the high contrast and B & W tones are what I would expect to see on billboards advertising a forthcoming concert.  In fact the only thing missing is the name "The Sadies" on a slight diagonal across the top with the venue and the date.  There is also action and expression in the scene that you have caught very nicely, that in turn conveys the life and musical expression.

Very well done Gail!

Best Regards

Thankyou Alf, I do appreciate your comments very much.  In time I am sure I will get 'braver' and 'better' at this type of imaging and editing.

Terrific shot and I know you are into music as it feeds your soul. All the best and rated 6.

PS good to see you are using layers.

So I started peeking through your portfolio to get a gander at what else you are up to I and find this wonderful image. For my part the composition is perfect. Either a clever crop or your eye managed to keep the guitarist "complete" and the bassist starting looking at the camera, hand mid-stroke, is wonderful. Excellent choice doing this in b&w as I love the tonality and contrast of the image. The diagonals and horizontals of the scaffolding create nice separation between your subjects and the background. Great scene Gail, I really like it.

I'm sorry I was so long in responding, I saw your comment the other week, and I think I got sidetracked, thinking of your Macros and probably skipped over quickly to see how you had done on your last outing. Many thanks for your very kind critique.;-) Gail
