In color, you'd see that the mallard on the left has a yellow bill and slightly different coloring than his female mate on the right. He's in eclipse plumage. Happens at the start and end of summer. Mating season is over.

What if humans turned colors in mating season? Or do they??

I like this one a lot. The framing of the birds and the graphic quality of the picture is excellent. I do kind of wish that the bird on the left was about half a centimenter more to the right of the post

I like this a lot too.  It's framed really well; your ducks are so cooperative in they way stand, and they are cute!  The little bits of leaves add a nice texture; like one could hear the crunch unless they are too water-soaked! Your bird pics truly are wonderful.

Thanks!

I did ask Mr. Mallard to move over closer to the Mrs. but you know how ducks can be. Like herding kittens.

Just for grins, I'm attaching the original color version which is also cropped but with more room to the left of the post.

Hello and thanks for your very nice comment.

I so wished that they would move to the right just a little bit. But when I asked them, they flew away :(
