JeffBryce 0 Posted June 14, 2012 I've been to Moraine Lake twice and didn't see it like in the postcards. The first time was early June 2010 and the lake was half empty. The second time was early June 2012. It looked like this... Link to comment
MadoGuenette 0 Posted June 15, 2012 This lake is magic. I've been there 3 times already. And I will go back again. You have a great composition here and beautiful colors. Thank you for sharing :D Link to comment
Daniel Álamo 0 Posted June 15, 2012 Pretty location at the classic Moraine place. Nice FG and photo in the half bottom. On the upper half I don't find very good the excesif blue cast as too the close frame to the mountains on sides. I think that classic horizontal frame open the window left and right would have worked better. The upper left corner is too polarized though and the left side of mountains a bit dark as too missing of sharpness IMHO. I should prefer the entire iced rock on FG should be.Maybe it's an ocassion to try a new one and improve this. 5/7. Link to comment
JeffBryce 0 Posted June 16, 2012 Thanks Madeleine. Daniel, I have a horizontal of this in another folder, but I'm not sure it solves the problems that you identify. I prefer this one, but my personal preference tends to be verticals. Regards, Jeff Link to comment
thadley 15 Posted August 4, 2012 What a fabulous scene with excellent clarity and composition. It is the type of Image I want to rate a 6 or 7. I do agree with Daniel's assessment of what could be improved.I have taken a very quick stab of addressing those issues with post-processing but I am working with a JPG image with more limitations than if it was RAW. I have attached a new version but I know that much more could be done. You have other images with similar problems so it comes down to both the capture and post=processing. For what it is worth, I very seldom use a polarizer with a wide-angle lens because of problems in the sky. If I do use it, I will take two images - one with the polarizer and one without and then blend to get the best of two worlds. Link to comment
john_caines 0 Posted August 5, 2012 I would go for something just a little bit darker than Tony's adjustment but he has moved it in the right direction. It is a gorgeous scene and expertly captured. Link to comment
JeffBryce 0 Posted August 5, 2012 Thanks for the rework on this, Tony. I do like it lightened, but perhaps not as light as what you did to it. I know we've had this discussion before about polarizers and banding, especially in the sky. I used one here to cut the glare in the ice and on the water. Your retouch seems to have fixed things. Thanks again. Link to comment
Bachir 0 Posted November 11, 2013 What an amazing landscape and the photograph has been very well taken and composed. Thanks for sharing this beautiful view. Link to comment
thadley 15 Posted September 15, 2014 I seldom use a polarizer because of the uneven sky that I get and it creates too much work fixing it. Sometimes, what I will do when I need a polarizer to improve the foreground, I will shoot two images - one for the sky with no polarizer and the 2nd for the polarized foreground. Using layers, it is an easy blend for me. Link to comment
