Very nice Alf.  The changes you (and Mother Nature) made between the two images really increased its "viewablity".  Even the fern leaf that is still OOF, as was desired, has more definition, giving the whole image a type of clarity.  I like this image very much, you are well on your way to mastery of a whole new genre.  Best regards...

I love that analogy of dwarfs and fairy tales, it was a look I was hoping to achieve. it's very gratifying to read that like this, Its a bit different for me, but there are so many aspects of photography to try and so little time!  Yes, that 50 mm is an awesome peice of kit!  Sincere Thans & Warm Regards

I think thats a key element to most successfu flower images "simplicity" but of course finding simplicity is never simple : - )

Thank You and Best Regards

I think you have hit the nail on the head. I think it is the increased definiiton and perception of depth that makes this version more appealing.  Many thanks for your thoughtful comments and encouragement!

That puts another spin on it that I hadn't previously considered, the diversity of our thinking is a wonderful thing.

Many Thanks!

Wow! That's a splendid image, very nicely composed. Excellent light and colours. The bokeh is quite special, a little bit nervous maybe, as for the 50mm 1.8 and 1.4 in the Canon lineup. But it gives an interesting 'painting' look here.

Best regards,

Alain

Nice locor match.  Very unique.  The cool color of the subject is backgrounded withe the warm color.  Nice composition. Best Regards,

A stunning image !  I absolutely love the light, the delicacy.  A marvellous departure from your normal -- and may I suggest that you try more often.  It is certainly one I will refer back for composition and lighting when I get around to trying out something similar.  Photography offers so many opportunities - where to find the time !

Warm regards

Many Thanks for your thoughtful comments and interpretations, much appreciated.  I'm not really any kind of flower photographer, but I do appreciate some of the amazing talent on PN and try to emulate it ocassionaly. I'm a little bit unsure of some of the photographic terminology too, so if you happen to re-visit the image, could you explain what " a little bit nervous" relates to, or how it manifests itself? Or if anyone else could explain, I'd be really grateful.

Thanks again Alain!

Best Regards

Many Thanks for your observations and kind words. The colour contrast wasn't something that I was consciously aware of, but now you point it out, its probably what makes it stand out more than anything else.

Sincere Thanks for your generous words of encouragement, much appreciated! I like to dabble here and there with different genres, and PN is an inspiration with so many talented photographers displaying thier work, but you summed up by writing "where to find the time" and that kind of epitomises my situation also, I have about 200 photo's on a memory card from last week that I haven't even had time to upload yet, but still I enjoy every minute!

Best Regards

Alf
