jim_j2 9 Posted April 19, 2012 Was fortunate enough to watch him hunt for about an hour. He did catch a nice sized Bluegill Perch, and this was just after he swallowed it! That's why his neck looks so large! Of the 10 or 20 shots, this one was the one I liked best! I liked the composition and details. No cropping here, other than a bit of sharpening, it's pretty much as it came out of the camera. Any suggestions to improve this image would be greatly appreciated! Thanks for taking the time, Sincerely, Jim j. Link to comment
Bill J Boyd 65,499 Posted April 19, 2012 Good shot. Think I need a 400mm lens and a tele-converter. I could never get close enough to these guys to get a decent shot. Good work, my friend. Link to comment
jim_j2 9 Posted April 19, 2012 Thanks Bill,I couldn't believe how close he actually got as he worked across the shallow arm of the pond I was on! Of course, I too was very still and well protected from his sight.Just wish I had gotten more "keeper's" of him, only two out of 20 or so! Go figure! Thanks again, for looking!Regards always,Jim j. alfbailey 4 Posted April 19, 2012 Great light and detail, I also think you have got the balance and composition spot on. I don't normally like frames but I have to admit this looks good as does the light vignetting.Sincere ComplimentsAlf Link to comment
lintrathen 15 Posted April 19, 2012 A great capture here. This is how images of wildlife should be presented.... with habitat and looking into the image. For me it is a well balanced image with good detail and colour. The eye is great. For an in-camera composition I give you a strong 6.Well done.Best regards Link to comment
jim_j2 9 Posted April 20, 2012 Harry, Yes, Airshow/Carshow season just around the corner! "Hey, as long as it flies/moves (or sits on the ground) I'll shoot it!"Alf, That's quite a compliment from you on the Frame! The vignetting, . . . yes, I had some branches and strong winds blowing them in the way of my hide and there was nothing I could do about them.Grayham, I do try to shoot with the natural Habitat and for the most part if my lens is long enough for an out of the camera composition. I'm really not very good at the post processing, but I'm learning! Many thanks to you all for your visit and comments! They are valuable, and greatly appreciated to learn by!Sincerely,Jim j.
