Stitched in Photoshop from 13 separate vertically oriented captures

this is probably my favourite panoramic. It shows Auckland's two

most well known landmarks, the Auckland Harbour Bridge and the

Sky Tower in the far left and right side of the image with the

Westhaven marina in between. Worth getting up early for?

Yes, it's worth getting up for.  It's a great view of the city with an extensive harbor in the foreground.  I think the sky is overexposed, and as a result the colors are washed out (this is a limitation of the camera -- it's simply not able to capture the full range of brightness in a single exposure).  I suggest you decrease the brightness of the sky.  I tried this by creating a new layer, darkening that layer via curves to where the sky looked good, and then blending the two layers with the gradient tool.

Great work. I love panoramas. This one I would print large and hang on my wall covering my window  :). Whenever I attempt to take a picture like that I always think about ND grad filters. I wonder if it would work out in this case.

Hi Stephen - I agree with the sky being too bright compared to the rest of the scene. I'll have another go and maybe post a reprocessed image. Thanks for the feedback.
