This is one of a series of small waterfalls. In the summer its plunge

pools are great for swimming, in the winter the trail that runs along

the creek is almost deserted save for the lonely guy who walks his dogs.

Impressive scene.Good use of the square format to include the multiple angles of flow/falls .The slow speed and the blue hue combine remarkably well to create this excellent image.Bravo!

Salutations-Laurent

A really beautiful shot which enhanced by its lack of scale which allows the viewer to use there own idea about this landscape. Very clever and very successful. Best wishes William

very very quickly!  amazingly wonderfully amazing.  usually i don't like time-blurred water, but this picture shows that my dislike is usually because it is not done for a reason.  all best, jamie

The blue cast lends itself well to a cold winter scene, and the square format works well for these multiple cascades.  What's really interesting to me is that a scale for the photograph is absent, and I can't easily determine if this is a closeup of a very small area or a more distant photograph of a much larger area.

William and Stephen, there is a small twig near the upper right corner which hints at the scale. The falls are quite modest in size, but I cropped heavily to focus on the cascades of falling water (and to make the image more abstract). Normally I'd try to get closer but on this particular day that was not possible. The blue hue was enhanced in Photoshop. Just for fun, here's the original image.

Nice capture of the movement in the water and the various shapes in the falls. I like the blue filter or toning. Well done.

Interesting -- what you have in your photograph is larger than I would have guessed.  I see the twigs now, but they are hard to reconcile with how my mind's eye wants to interpret the rest of the scene.  I just consider this an interesting aspect of this photograph.

Thanks for sharing the original! A great example of how cropping and trying to reduce a photo to its essence can bring forth exceptional results. The original is a very nice photo, well done, beautiful enough but one where I as a viewer would immediately react with - "I've seen that one before". This crop, on the other hand, is very exciting. It was new to me and very mysterious. Once again, a super job!

Beautiful waterfall shot with just the right amount of motion.  My only suggestion might be to clone out that square object right in front of the brightest part of the image as it sort of breaks up the flow.  It's even a distraction for me on the uncropped version.

Thanks for the comment, Dave, yep, that little stick raises its ugly head above the smooth rock. Would be easy enough to get rid of, but I consider it a little bit like cheating. Must be one of those leftover things from my film days.

But I agree with you, the image would be stronger without it.

The cropped image really caught my eye, it stands out even from your otherwise very nice portfolio. The blue of it is fantastic and also the square format is very well used here. To be honest, the uncropped version is also good and I agree with you, small branches that might sometime be the difference between an excellent image and a perfect one should not be surgically removed.

Regards, Tibi
