pnital 36 Posted March 5, 2012 This is beautiful in both forms, I think that it is well ligted and there are very nice shadows of her hair and eyelashes The music instrument is interesting , do you know its name?I'm glad that you continue to develop the subject! Link to comment

amalsircar 2 Posted March 6, 2012 Pnina. thank you very much for your approval of the image. This instrument is called Tambron. It is made with long bamboo pole with several strings attached. Helmi was sometimes striking it with bow and sometimes playing like a cello. It appears to me a period instrument. I have never seen any picture nor have heard it before. However, I am uploading another image to give you an idea of the long musical instrument.Maurizio, thank you very much for expressing your preference.Kallol, many thanks for your observation.Mahen, I have also not seen this unique musical instrument before. It sounds more like a cello. Many thanks for your feedback. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted March 6, 2012 Thanks for the second version and explanation, I as well never saw this instrument before. Link to comment
aarkp 2 Posted March 6, 2012 Very nicely composed shot at a good moment, Amal-da, with the eyes of the artist on her unusual instrument. The color version works very well. Link to comment
jayanti 0 Posted March 6, 2012 So engaging - the shadows of hair on her forehead are wonderful. Fantastic series of musicians, Amalda. Best regards. Link to comment
sumon_mukherjee 0 Posted March 9, 2012 An artistic shadow-light management. Really interesting photograph in a revealing background. To me, the bw version is more appealing. Regards. Link to comment
Christal1664882414 0 Posted March 13, 2012 Thanks so much for loading the version that shows the entire instrument. I have never seen nor heard of this instrument before. I'm happy to see what the instrument looks like, so I'm glad you have a color version, but as a photograph I prefer your B&W version. It just seems to match the somber tone of her expression, and it appears a bit brighter and sharper. I learn so much on this website, and this is just one more example of that! Thanks! jeffl7 0 Posted March 16, 2012 B&W works for me. I like the almost disjointed feel of the composition, as if head and hand are operating separately. Link to comment
Jack McRitchie 150 Posted March 16, 2012 I like this the best of your musician photos and prefer this, the color version. It has a soft, classical feeling with a bit of romantic chiaroscuro which fits the subject very well. I also think the composition is very strrong. Link to comment
amalsircar 2 Posted March 17, 2012 THANK YOU VERY MUCH for your encouraging feedback. Link to comment
krpradu 125 Posted March 19, 2012 Very, very interesting instrument, nice to know how diverse and big variety in this world things are,I like more the bw version that creates a perfect mood for this scene, compliments. Link to comment
GailAnthonyHarmer 6 Posted March 22, 2012 A lovely composition Amal. I've read many of the comments and it appears to be a most unusual instrument but sounds like it is very pleasant to the ear!Warm regards, Gail Link to comment
amalsircar 2 Posted March 24, 2012 Gail, that's true. Thank you very much for your visit & liking the image. Link to comment
thadley 15 Posted March 24, 2012 A wonderful capture and you have introduced me to a new musical instrument and I appreciate that. Based on the length of the bow, I wonder how it would be from an aesthetics perspective if you went with landscape mode. That might introduce other issues. Perhaps if you waited until the wrist was much closer to the tambron and keep this format - much like the photo where you show her full length. The arm there looks less `disconnected`.just a few thoughts on a very good image. All the very best, Link to comment
LenMarriott 9 Posted April 1, 2012 My favourite of your three most recent posts. Put me down on the side which prefers the B&W. (I have a bias toward B&W photos of people) I'll also side with those praising you for widening our horizons with this offfering. A Tambron! Who knew? Tony makes a valid point in suggesting a horizontal framing but in order to see everything at once may I suggest a square crop? The only downside to my suggestion is that the artist then gets minimized. Many compromises to chose from. Best, LM. Link to comment
amalsircar 2 Posted May 5, 2012 Tony, thank you very much for your feedback. I'm sorry for late response, because I was away from photo.net for more than a month due to other urgent preoccupations. Link to comment
