Hi Ron,

The approach of this bird suggests that he is coming to visit you.

The perspective and capture is very good.

Using a 125mm lens at F/6.3 , ISO 1600 is questionable.

I normally use F/4 or faster with very good medium telephoto lens. The f-stop provides several advantages: lowering the ISO, raising the shutter (if needed), and improving the image characteristics.

Best Regards,  Mike

Ron this is sensational. Obviously your exposure was correct !! I would say perfect since you can't get any better than this. The results speak for themselves. I am glad I looked at it larger, the detail is wonderful. The stop motion is perfect.  The outstretched talons, the expression, the back light on the wings make this a powerful image. It seems three demensional. A perfect exposure.  Fantastic shot!

Best wishes,

Linda

A beautiful pose of a great animal.I can understand Mike, with f 4 you would have got a netter DOF and more out of focus background. But sometimes things happens as they go, and the clarity and sharpness on the owl is really great. Great work!

I agree this is perfect.  I can't imagine how it could be improved.   I just want to know how you kept him from spotting you while you waited....

Excellent shot!

Using the higher ISO lets one use the higher shutter speed for detail and higher f stop for dof.

Obviously, nobody needs to tell you how to use a camera.  You nailed it!

The owl is very distinct, almost as if it were separated from the background.  Can something be too much 3-D?  The details are quite striking.

Wonderful Ron, such a great capture. The wings are in just the right place and the owl is so sharp. Top job.

You don't need no stinking ratings!  You don't need other's validation to be able to recognize that this is a superb image.  This most excellent result of your efforts speaks volumes for itself.  Gotta love the background treatment and the sharpness of your subject.  And those EYES!  Icing on the cake.  Best, LM.

Ron, when you posted this, you appeared to indicate that digital manipulation was applied.  What was that digital manipulation?

looks to me like it was cut and pasted on a different backround but it's still a great shot of the owl.....as far as ratings, who cares...your photo got 1300 views
