AlainD 0 Posted December 27, 2015 How lucky you are to have amazing frozen landscapes like this not far (or not so far) from home. I may have liked a tad more contrast in the distant hills and in the midground snow. But all in all this is a gorgeous image that clearly deserves a 6!How is winter in Ontario right now? As warm as winter in Europe (10°C and more in Switzerland)?Best regards,Alain Link to comment
JeffBryce 0 Posted December 27, 2015 Thanks all for your comments. Alain, I had tried to create some illusions in this series. For example, the "distant hills" are actually snow & ice build-up at the edge of the open lake, perhaps 50 meters away. The tallest was only about 3 meters from base to peak. There was a fair amount of spray onto the mounds due to pounding waves. The foreground pool of thawing ice was perhaps 2 meters round. I have returned to this area for 5 years, and each year it is different. This year, so far, there is no snow. Two days ago it was 15C and today we have rain. This is a big contrast to last year when four Great Lakes were over 90% frozen over. Three hours north of here the temperature in January hit -40! Thanks, Jeff Link to comment
