I took these photos for a tattooed pin up showcase that I have been

selected for. I have only been doing photography since June. What are

your opinions and outtakes on the photo?

Tattoos tend to be colourful and so maybe a colour shot would have been better. The partial colour also draws attention away from the tattoos. Pin ups generally work better in portrait although that doesn't bother me too much. I am not a fan of the sloping horizontal. I also wouldn't hide the tattoo with soap suds.

Apart from that, I actually like it.

Hi Krystle.. some of your photos are cheezy for a lack of a better word.. especially the Biker Chick series photos. Perhaps that is the look you are going for?... My regards.

a lot of people still do not like tattoos, in turn,  they may look at your photograph but not like it. catch 22 you could say. You might want to do a little tighter job with your selective coloring.

thank you for your input.  i posted another photo from the shoot.  the woman that owns the gallery likes the fact that i went outside the normal pinup style of photo and she cant wait for them to be in the showcase i have been selected for there.  like i have said.... i am very new at this.  you have probably been doing this for years.  its hard to see someone not like your work when you do, but thats what makes you better the next time.  one of the girls that i have also selected to take photos of was a pinup style model for bigger women and shes amazing so those photos will go with the traditional style.

Hi Krystle,

This is the first time that I have seen your work. I like it.

I have shot tattoos for many years for advertising agencies and tattoo shops. Each client has their own preferences as to what they want from a series of images.

From what you say, your client likes this work.

You will get much input from PN reviewers, but remember that when it comes to a paying client, their satisfaction is all that really matters.

Best Regards,  Mike

thanks mike.  i am new to this site.  i had to get this account to keep my work known cause i am getting into a lot of shots like this and people that dont agree with how i am running my business are reporting my photos on facebook and theyre getting deleted.

i like that people that dont know me are enjoying my work.  it shows me that i am doing right in my career and that this is what i am meant to do.

Hi Krystle,

This is my third critique here for you, but I'm not the anon person that called your photos cheezy.

I do agree with much of what was said. Be careful when using selective coloring. It looks like you hit the bright red shoes, but also got part of the tub colorized too. The shoes do take attention away from the model and the tattoos, as well, the tub and the wall are also competing for attention because they're brighter than the model. Try again not to photograph at the 18mm end of the lens. Crop a little tighter while you're taking the photo and don't just do it in post processing. It looks like you're using Photoshop CS5?

I also notice a lot of your shots are taken at roughly the same settings. When you're outside, you probably won't need to use flash. Check out some tutorials here on photo.net learn a little more about exposure. It'll open a world of possibilities. Also, find somebody whose brain you can pick about different things.
