You seem to be anticipating comments about it being too dark, but I think the amount of light you've chosen works very well.  Despite that portions of his head blend in with the background, his eyes and the necklace he's wearing really stand out, with nice catchlight showing.  He has a look of slightly apprehensive cooperation, and I can see that as part of his overall story.  Very nicely done.
