Great. The selective sharpness and diffusion of shapes and colors gives this piece dimension. There are a lot of photographers on this site who think that somehow the intensive use of layers and PS tools is somehow cheating. But few are really able to handle the tools as well as you. Your finished pictures are always strikingly original, and intelligent in design and execution. I envy your eye and prowess.

What thoughtful and encouraging comments Jack. I truly enjoy creating these images, and it does take some time to hopefully 'balance' the image, which isn't really necessary, but for some reason, I tend to go in that direction. I don't know if my 'printing sales' experience (not extensive but did do some composition for clients, but always had to 'proof' any docket before it went to  print. I learned a lot that way just from the designers right in Production.

Plus we had a lot of work 'jobbed out' and the formal Artwork was done by a Graphics Company depending on the Order. Learning by Observation has always been beneficial for me.

I also have done for myself and others - Interior Decorating, and have always enjoyed the 'design' aspect and been able to 'visualize' the final outcome. I would have loved to learn 'Illustration and Paint' in any of the many programs. Perhaps one day! For now I will play with my Photoshop box of colours and see where that takes me.

Thanks again for your very kind and inspiring words of critique. Your support is most appreciated Jack.

Warmest regards, Gail

This virtually took my breath away when I saw it.  And then I read the comments and saw the original images you started with, and I'm sitting here shaking my head at your extraordinary talent and vision.  I'm curious....approximately how long would it take you to do something like this?   You are such an inspiration!  Officially, Happy New Year, and we'll hope to see many more of your creations in 2012.

Many thanks for those lovely words of Critique. I'm so pleased you enjoyed this image. Every compositon I try is different. Some come about very quickly, but usually since I am so interested in just how 'blending modes' and layers will effect an image, I usually take my time. If I choose to do one of these compositions, it is usually a time when I want to relax and take my time.

It is not unusual to take an hour or more. The steps taken, saving layers etc. can be time consuming, but it certainly is a 'learning experience'. Cheers to you Christale, and I hope this New Year finds you and yours Healthy, Happy and Content. Life always brings it's problems, but thankfully PN serves as not only a great way to communicate and learn, but it is a 'welcome diversion'.

All the best, Gail

A veritable colour kaliedescope of corresponding reciprocality, a virtual  visual perception of peripheral paramagnetism, a feast of floral phantasmagoria ..........well I could continue wth the adjectives, but the truth is, none of sounds as good as this looks!

Beautifully done Gail!

Warm Regards

Alf
