You say you did some decrease of the saturation Amy, I don't know what it looked like before that, but I'm certain that it looks better like this:

Hi Pierre. Thanks for looking and critiquing my portrait.

The original from the camera was much like yours, but I decided to play a bit with settings just to see what I came up with. I do think my colors come across as a bit "muddy"; though I did want a slightly less vivid presentation (mostly because of the background). I imagine layers would be an alternative way to deal with that, but I haven't as of yet honed my skills there.

Thanks so much for taking time to give me feedback.

Hi Amy,

What is most important is that you have a wonderful picture of your Dad.

As for desaturation and other playful tools in PS, these are not a technical issues, it is about personal preferences and self expression (another aspect of imaging).

Pierre's work is also very good.

Technically, the Fuji X100 23mm F/2 lens is quite good, and your use of it at F/2.8 was a very good choice.

Best Regards,  Mike

Amy, I too appreciate the gentle, and almost tender expression of your dad... I do think that this photo might look very nice rendered in a soft toned B&W, & cropped to a square format, eliminating partially the slightly distracting window on the LHS of the photo... Anyway, = just my thinking out loud here ... best, Marjolein

this is a lovely image of your Dad, so gentle, endearing. While a lot of scattered light in the background, it does not distract me from the beautiful expression on your Father's face. I bet this will be one of your favorites of him. Cherish it.

Marjolein and Gail. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts about this piece. (Marjolein, I am so sorry I missed acknowledging your comment for a year :-/  I'm not sure how I missed it).

This is wonderful work.  It also shows that you are really good at straight photography when you want to come back down to earth.

Thanks for your comments (@ Lannie: sorry so late to reply- I must've missed your comment before). This is one that may need a  post-processing revisit.
