Fine composition and the very classic of it ,and a little out of the rule but who cares in a good image !,good saturated and vivid colors ,all are in harmony with each other ,fine light and sharping in the large version ,and a good quality image .

that black object in the left side of the road walk ,is an not related to the image and play harmful I guess,it does not give clue to what it is ,I just what the final look of this image would be if there is an old tomb ,or grave with an even old wooden cross over it at either side of the walk in the lower third ?

I hope this would answer what you have asked for .

I would rate it 6.

Ryan!  This is FANTASTIC!  The lighting is mysterious, the house haunting and the dirt road leading us in is a visual feast!!  Very well done!!!  Cheers, Doug.

Ryan,  wonderful work,  lots for the imagination to ponder on.  the overall darkness really creates a lot of both mood and mystery.  my guess on black object besides road would be a water station for livestock. what i like best here would be how you have captured a entire story with but one frame.  lovely work!

Thanks for the comments everyone.  I don't consider myself a heavyweight at this stuff by any means, but do it as a hobby.  I was happy enough with this image to submit it for some critique.  I agree Saad, the metal tank(turned over water tank I believe) is kind of extraneous.  Good point.

Ryan, I think your composition is terrific.  Everything shown here has a purpose and contributes to the photograph.  I like the straight-on view and the foreground dirt road that takes the viewer's eyes right to the house.  And what a house it is: 2-story with most windows broken out and the background showing through, much of the paint gone but with some still telling us that it used to be a white house, and some elements that are sagging and showing their age.  The tree to the right has the same personality -- leaves gone and dead at the top.  It's obviously a farmhouse with a barn/shed to the left, and I could immediately recognize the metal water trough in front (it belongs there -- the foreground would lose some valuable variation if it were gone).  Then to top it off, you have a mottled gray cloud cover that gets dark toward the horizon, and a foreground that gets into deeper shade as it nears the bottom edge.  Everything works together; you couldn't have painted this more perfectly.
