I think the strongest points are the profiled view and the unobtrusive backdrop, the combination makes this really stand out  I noticed the 1600 ISO setting which would account for the slight noise, and I also noted that you have the noise reduction control switched to "off" was this a purposeful omission for the effect? I'm just curious. But In any case very well done Linda.

Sincere Compliments

They are magnificent creatures, are they not. I love your editing on this one, the knarly tree suits this fellow quite nicely. I can imagine your thrill when you first caught a glimpse of this fellow. Well done Linda!

Warmest regards, Gail

Thank you all so much. I am sorry it took me so long to thank you for your nice comments, I have had a lot going on the past few weeks.

Alf, I should have had the noise reduction on, but I am forgetful. I often forget to be aware of these things when I photograph wild life, especially eagles. They tend to fly away before I can focus. I know that I would get better shots if I could be calm, collected and think about what I am doing. I have had so many great opportunities just fly away that I want to get in as many shots as I can when I can. This guy ignored me and I got in quite a few shots, I left before he did. It was getting dark. I did change the ISO, just to see what would happen. It is grainy, but it was the best of the bunch.  Thanks!

Kallol, Thank you, nice to hear from you.

Gail, we are surrounded by eagles. They love the salmon in the river. I see one who perches in a tree near my house almost every day and every time I see him I am thrilled. But, as I said to Alf, it isn't easy to get a good shot.

Dolf, thank you for taking the time to comment.

Best Wishes,
Linda

Hi Linda, Yes indeed a very nice shot. I like the composition and the fact that you kept it slightly soft makes for an artistic portrait. Very nice.

I'm sure you thanked this eagle for landing on the perfect perch.  Nothing to obstruct him, and it's interesting in its own right.  Great DOF, and I don't mind the softness or noise.  I've heard there is a great noise reduction program called Noise Ninja if you wanted to improve that a bit.  But this is quite a good shot, all things considered.  When we were in Alaska we got some eagle shots (first time I had seen them in the wild), but we didn't get anything nearly this good or close up.
