thadley 15 Posted May 21, 2016 The visual contrast between 'sunny-warm' and 'ominous-inclement' colors is effective. I have never been to Scotland but perhaps this is typical of the type of weather that can experienced in that part of the world. This scene would have prompted me to experiment with many different compositions and here is one where I might have made the house slightly less central. Then there is that large colorful rock on the left where I might have made that the main foreground interest in a portrait version, etc, etc.All the very best, Link to comment
alfbailey 3 Posted May 22, 2016 Many Thanks for your input and suggestions. I think you are spot on with your observations and your chosen composition looks much better. I don't usually place the main subject so centrally, and I can't remember why I did on this occasion. But on a later visit to the same location I composed the scene much more in line with your suggestions, as the below link:- http://photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=18045864&size=md This photo actually ended up in "The Photographers Guide To Scotland" by Ellen Bowness, a very useful publication if you ever decide to visit our tiny island : - ) Thanks again Tony!
