Managed to get a shot without what seemed like a million people who

were walking along the pier that night! Any improvements/ suugestions,

then please advise. Thanks.

Your patience paid off and the stragglers eventually went home to bed, a busy place though Southport, so you did well.

I like the angle and the inclusion of the overhead light, might have been more dynamic is it was switched on, but you had no control of that. I think the litter bin could be cropped as it doesn't really add anything to the image and the cropping might eliminate some of the distortion. The light is good and the gradation of colour has been wel managed. The upward tilt of your camera has caused some distortion and whilst it doesn't bother me, you might  take a few steps back to capture the desired area you want, and keep your camera on a level plane, you can then always crop into the photo to get rid of any unwanted foreground elements. There seems to be a lack of sharpness in the foreground also, which I don't quite understand as you used f22 which should allow ample dof. Incidently f8 would have been sufficient and produced better quality. It could be your chosen focal point or maybe shapening technique that needs attention.

You have a good eye for a photograph Charley it just needs some fine tuning. I hope this helps

Best Regards

Alf
