Many Thanks for your interest and positive feedback, much appreciated! The sunlight did a lot of the work for me, but I have a few images taken the evening before when the weather was completely different, which should make for an interesting comparison.

Best Regards

Sincere thanks for your encouraging feedback, much appreciated! The light was really was nice, it made the vegetation look quite vibrant, but it was tricky because I kept blowing the highlights on the cottage and had to make sevral adjustments.

Cheers John!

Good to hear from you, I hope you are keeping well!

The light was quite different the evening before and the storm clouds rattled around the mountains, I will post another version of this for comparison.

Sincere Thanks for your interest and generous comments, much appreciated.

At the speed I process images, I'll still be doing the remaining 500 next year : - )

I would actually endorse the image with a few lines about the place too! It really is the most amazing place. A landscape photographers dream, the moods and light change constantly. I love it, and I'm really pleased you liked it too.

Sincere Thanks

Alf

There is nothing I can say that will add to the techinical  merits of this image Alf,  but I will say just how the beauty of the landscape truly touches a place deep inside me. It is a feeling of 'knowing' a place - yet never - ever having visited there. Perhaps a connection, whether it be to the beauty, or my love of the landscape, and textures of the flora and rock formations.

Whatever it is, it runs deep, for some reason, the beauty almost brings a tear to my eyes. My Mom's maiden name was Scott.  And everyone called her 'Scottie'.....I would like to think she has seen this 'beauty'. She never had the opportunity to visit the home of her ancestors. Seems to be a little bit of 'Heaven' here on Earth.

Thankyou for sharing this lovely landscape with us, I too am looking forward to your other captures. Glad you had a great time and good weather that permitted you to come home with such lovely memories.

Sincere regards, Gail

Hi Alf. You should write a book and combine it with your photography about your travels round britain and afar! You certainly find some extraordinary places to photograph and this is no exception! I really like the pockets of light, highlighting the rocks in the foreground and giving a golden glow in the background. Wonderful composition and the sky is the icing on the cake!

Warm regards. Sarah

It's really gratifying to know when someone connects with an image in this way, and I can empathise fully because Scotland is like nowhere else on earth. There is for me a strong attraction to the area, that isn't born from just wanting to photograph it. In fact just being there, seing it and feeling is is almost enough. There are places in England, Wales and Ireland that are beautiful in thier own right, but the raw vibrancy and wild rugged terrain of Scotland cannot be surpassed, and your "heaven on earth" analogy certainly rings true for me. Once experienced it can never be forgotten, even through generations.

I hope to visit the Isle of Sky next year and maybe even get over to the extreme North East coast where there is only a couple of hours darkness in summer.

This particular location has been photographed a million times, but it's location is in such a beautiful outlook I couldn't resist having an attempt myself. There are also another 2 - 3 cottages along the same stretch of road that I photographed, (albeit it some miles apart), and I hope to post a couple of these soon as well.

Sincere thanks for sharing your thoughts and observations Gail, your feedback is always inspirational.

Writing an illustrated book, Now thats a concept that I like. In fact I'd love to do that. I wrote a small series of articles for an online magazine, "Diary of a Landscape Photographer" if you find a web page called SLR Lounge and type my name into the search bar, you should see the series in he results. I really enjoyed doing it, but alas it was time consuming. Maybe something to consider for the future though.

Thank you so much for your encouragement and thoughtful feedback, very much appreciated.

Warm Regards

Alf

Another excellent image from you my friend.  The rock balances very well with the weeds and along with the trees in the middle form a triangle which helps the perspective.  The whites are giving this special light touch to those beautiful earthly colors.  The sky goes along with the rest of the image.  Bravo!

Cheers!

Sincere Thanks for your interest and kind comments, I'm really pleased you liked this one. We took quite a few shots of the cottages along our route, quite often they are remote and set against a wonderful backdrop like this.

Hello Alf,

Dawn is certainly better dan dusk.  The positioning of the house is better and put more dynamic in the picture.  The layers, foreground, the sunny area, mountains, and then the clouds make this is a nice composition.

Many Thanks for your interest and thoughtful observations, very much appreciated. I think from a compositional viewpoint the "dawn" image might be have the edge, but from a light and mood viewpoint I would prefer "dusk" the light is more even, and the moody sky adds character to the image, that being said, it is all subjective and I'm very pleased you like any of them.

Best Regards

Alf
