This is a great portrait.  I think it would be improved, though,  by using a gradient to lower the highlights on the left side.  The nice light that you captured would still be preserved, but the left side of the frame (which is secondary to the boy anyway) would compete less for visual attention.

I agree with Michael's assessment very much. Beatufiul light on the boy's face and in his eyes. A very nice, sweet, thoughtful expression and pose. Good color in his face and I like seeing out the window. The blown highlights, though, around the knees, are a bit of a problem in a more or less sweet portrait context. I don't mind blown highlights used for high drama or energy, but they seem not quite in keeping with the tone of the overall image here. Very nice portrait nonetheless.

It takes more than talent to take a picture like this that is both intimate and classically composed. Beautifully done and the hot spots only add to its charming imperfection in my estimation.
