pnital 36 Posted November 10, 2011 What a beauty!she looks like a statue on a pedestal...;-))Very nice point of camera and a great shallow "frame"she is places in. Timing, colors , details and Dof! nothing is missing, and I like especially its eyes ( and yours)....!;-)) Link to comment
gordonjb 10,860 Posted November 10, 2011 Pnina,Thanks, I found this little sweetheart while I was down on the ground photographing mushrooms and could not resist seeing if I could get her to pose with them. Link to comment
wogears 186 Posted November 10, 2011 We get those critters in our basement. This is an excellent shot in a much better location. Link to comment
gordonjb 10,860 Posted November 10, 2011 Hi Les, Thanks, I gather it can be a bit damp in your basement ;-)We get these Jefferson salamanders under rotten logs and other cover in low lying areas. Link to comment
jeff.grant 0 Posted November 10, 2011 What a serendipitous find this little guy was! Give me this any day over the standard macro insect shot. I just love it. Link to comment
mark_q 0 Posted November 10, 2011 Normally I wouldn't bother too much about nature photo, but this unique and novel POV hits the nail in my coffin. True killer shot for sure, and technically admirable. Link to comment

3m 0 Posted November 12, 2011 Funny, that you were looking for mushrooms, and ended up using them as props for this amusing portrait. Really like the way the little salamander is leaning on the 'stool', with the big 'umbrella' looming beyond..."Funny" expression as well :-) You must have been laying down completely on the ground to get this expression, from this angle... Best, Marjolein Link to comment
jeffl7 0 Posted November 23, 2011 The focus on his eyes and hand make for an almost human expression. Extremely nice. His slimy roundness pairs well with the shape of the mushrooms. Link to comment
Tanja 0 Posted December 3, 2011 You are not a stranger to them any more, they know you. You are not just paparzzi any more. It becoming clear that you are bringing a chance for real opportunity to get to the world of famous :)."Kiss me, I am a prince" :) Link to comment
human images 4 Posted December 3, 2011 a close encounter between photog and a charming creature of myth; a fairytale of intimacy across species Link to comment
Jack McRitchie 150 Posted December 4, 2011 He seems perfectly at home in his own little world, a place where you can take a moment's rest on a toadstool. Not many of the Big Folk are invited to visit so you're quite a lucky guy. Link to comment
gordonjb 10,860 Posted December 5, 2011 Jeff,Not a big fan of insects myself. I'll take a reptile or amphibian over bugs every time. Markku,Thanks I know nature stuff is not your usual interest which makes it is extra nice to know you like this one. Timo, Thanks Radu,Thanks you've got to hang out on the forest floor a lot to see these guys. Thom, thanks Pnina, thanks again :-) Jen, Happy to make you smile. Marjolein,Yes I was laying flat on the forest floor using the ground to steady my camera.I love getting down there to see the world from their level. Not so fond of trying to get back up theses days however. Tatjana,You know, I sometimes really do wonder what all these little critters make of me invading their world with my big camera. I like em but I ain't gonna kiss em. Jeff,I too was fond of the roundness of all the lines, nature does not toss out many straight lines or sharp corners. Dominic, thanks for the visit. Carlos,There seems to be are fairy tale realm filled with fairy tale creatures around every corner. Jack,I truly am privileged and ever grateful to be invited to the picnic. Jamie, thanks I agree they are quite pretty...... still not gonna kiss one :-) Link to comment
