JimCowan 0 Posted November 8, 2011 Alf,I am going to buck the trend here. This is a beautiful fine art image, it is not a documentary landscape image. Anything that you can do to simplify the composition further will enhance the fine art quality of this image. The tiny stones look like acne on nature's otherwise beautiful face. I also agree with Nurullah's comment that you should remove the portion of the islet that touches the frame. Do the work, post the updated image and ask viewers for their preference. Once finished I can see this printed as a fine art poster.Excellent work,Jim Link to comment

panayotis_papadopoulos 0 Posted November 10, 2011 I don't mind the stones. Very calm, serene atmosphere, the dawn of a new day as the mist goes away. Lovely picture my friend! Link to comment
jeffl7 0 Posted November 11, 2011 Such a dream, this is with the mountains and hills melting away into the mist. The bird seems tethered to the one part of the photo that seems tangible. Link to comment
llgarcia 1 Posted November 11, 2011 Gives me the feeling of being there. Beautiful landscape, so natural looking and well-composed.Regards, AlfLester Link to comment
alfbailey 3 Posted November 12, 2011 Firstly, Humble Apologies to all for my slow response. I have been away for a few days to Scotland and haven't had any access to the internet. The good news is I think I captured a few images worthy of your comments, when I get a chance to process them of course. : - )WANGHANMany Thanks for your interest and thoughts, much appreciated. I was fairly limited in terms of composition as the small island was joined to the mainland just left of the image, and as I wanted it included I had to go for the close crop> Glad you liked it WanghanBest RegardsAlfDAVESincere Thanks for your interest and thoughtful feedback, very much appreciated. I am in complete agreement with you about the birds position, but I suppose I got lucky that it was there at all. I did change the white balance slightly to accentuate the cool tones, but there wasn't much colour there at all to sdtart with, it was just very pale and misty. Always good to hear from you Dave.Best RegardsAlfKALLOLThank you for looking and taking time to comment, much appreciated!Best RegardsAlfTONY Thank you for sharing your thoughts, partiucularly regarding the stones, I think the general consensus seem to be in favour of them staying. I'm also pleased you are in favour of the mono tones, it was either change the white balance to a cooler colour as seen here, or leave it a paler shade which wasn't very attractive.Cheers Tony!AlfPATSY Many Thanks for stopping by and sharing your thoughts, much appreciated. Yes you are right, the credit goes to the bird for impeccable timing : - )Many ThanksAlfHARRY Good to hear from you! You do get about don't you!You are so right! Morning light cannot be duplicated or manufactured, you eithe have to be there or miss it. The practicalities are never quite so simple, but I do love the early morning light, so whenever I get the chance, "I'm up for it" as they say : - )Sincere Thanks for your feedback Harry.Best RegardsAlfSURESH Thank you for your interest and positive feedback, much appreciated.Best Wishes.AlfHOLGER Good to hear from you! I'm realy pleased you liked this one. Thank you sincerely for your feedback, it would seem that the general consensus are in favour of leaving the image with the stones intact and your comments add further weight to that opinion.Best RegardsAlfJIMSincere Thanks for your interest and kind words, very much appreciated. Its always good to get another view and you have put forward a strong arguement to make the percieved necessary adjustments. I have to admit I don't like the thought of manipulating the image to the degree your self and Nurullah suggest, but I can't deny the validity or indeed the logic of the suggestions. I think as an imtermediate step I will make the ajustments to view for myself, then make another decision as to what I do with it next. Thanks again Jim!Best RegardsAlfILKKAMany thanks for your interest and kind words!Best RegardsAlfRUUDMany Thanks, always good to hear from you!Best RegardsAlfTONY As I know your are something of a perfectionist yourself, I shall take those two words as a great compliment.Sincere ThanksAlfBILL Thank you for your interest and positive feedback, much appreciated. I wasn't think in terms of printing this oen, but your comments give me food for thought.Best RegardsAlfFALAKI'm very pleased you liked it, and thank you for taking time to comment!Best RegardsAlfPANAYOTIS Sincere Thanks for your comments and feedback, much appreciated! You described the morning perfectly, it was very peaceful.Best RegardsAlfJEFFMany thanks for your thoughts on this one Jeff. I must admit I hadn't thought of it in quite the terms you described, but once I did, I knew exactly where you were coming from, there does seem to be an intrinsic link between island and birdBest RegardsAlfLESTER I think the success of any image can be guaged to some degree at least in how people connect with it, or if they do at all. The fact that you get the feeling of being there speaks volumes ot me and I thank you sincerely for providing the feedback!Best RegardsAlf Link to comment
tibig 0 Posted November 13, 2011 Beautiful shot. You have to get up early for this! I like a lot the economy of color and in the same time the wealth of tones.Regards, Tibi Link to comment
alfbailey 3 Posted November 13, 2011 Thank you, it was one of those mornings that come around infrequently and beg to be photographed, how could I resist. RegardsAlfTIBIYes, it was certainly an early start 4.00 and then 2 hours travelling, but it was worth it this time, it kind of makes up for soem of the other times when it wasn't. Sincere thanks for your feedback, very much appreciated.Best RegadsAlf Link to comment
ndj 0 Posted November 14, 2011 Gorgeous blue tones in this serene image Alf! I'd leave the stones as it adds to the feeling of depth in the image. Gorgeous work guy!All the best,Neil Link to comment
hamidfarzandian 0 Posted November 15, 2011 Firstly im amazed of the quality and definition despite a handheld set and long focal length, congratulations for that. And secondly this scene is so beautiful and charming deserving any time and effort spend for demomstrating its utmost beauty. I definitly suggest clone out of the dots and blemishes with content aware fill or something, otherwise very nice shot. Correcting it is a matter of one to two minutes. My best regards,Hamid. alfbailey 3 Posted November 15, 2011 NEILMany Thanks for your thoughts and valued opinions, very much appreciated. I think the voting has mostly gone in favour of leaving the stones, and I'm inclined to agree, not least because it saves me doing the "fiddly bits" which I hate. : - )Cheers NeilAlfHAMID Sincere Thanks for your thoughts and feedback, much appreciated. I think the lens is worth a mention, and contributes to a large degree for the sharpness and definition. I take on board what your saying about the small rocks, but I know it would take me much longer than 1 - 2 minutes and I don't like manipulating images too much. That being said, I think that Michel Latandresse had a good suggestion, that I carry out the said work and let the viewers then state a preference. Great to get your valued opinion though Hamid, I think I might just try it at some point in the future.Best RegardsAlfBEN Many Thanks for stopping by and sharing your thoughts. I hope you are keeping well! It's very gratifying to know I'm one of your favourites and that you like this one. It was one of those mornings I couldn't do much wrong : - )Cheers BenAlf Link to comment

h_r_herle 0 Posted November 22, 2011 Hi Alf,Is this on earth? Just kidding. The misty blue is just class. Love the bird and the small land intrusion. This should be on one of the few best on PN. Thanks for sharing,Harsha. Link to comment

prezesura 0 Posted January 6, 2012 hi Alfwhat a capture!you captured a great moment with excellent light playjust wondering how much post processing if any was required to achieve such a nicetonality ?regards Link to comment
alfbailey 3 Posted January 6, 2012 Many Thanks for your interest and positive feedback, very much appreciated! There wasn't very much post processing at all, the photo was taken very early morning just after dawn, and a very slight adjustment to the white balance was all that was required.Best RegardsAlf Link to comment
