I certainly appreciate your candid comment which also offers some compositional advice.  Of course I don't agree with you that the image is 'horrible' but we can't all agree. And visiting your portfolio I can see why you might think that way.

You are the second person to suggest cutting back on the grass and perhaps shifting the camera to the right to get more of the reflection on the water. I must have 50 or more shots in my portfolio of this location which is composed as you describe (see Sunsets or North america ...... candiac folders).

In this image the leaves were a key component. For less than a week in 12 months I get those leaves which are synonymous with the momentous "Fall" season that we have here in Quebec (Canada). For 6 months there is only snow and ice here, then grass without leaves for the short summer.

Some people are wizards at Photoshop and do miracle changes and I am not one of those persons.  As per the saturation level; I invite you to take a look at the grey wall, the middle gray clouds and even the gray reflection of the water in the lower right. This does not prove that the colors were not saturated but it is a fairly good indication that they were not. Have a look at the grass and the leaves and they really look 'natural' to me. I also invite to have a look at the rest of this 'recent' folder or others that might lead you to conclude that I have tendency to saturate my colors. I don't think you will come to that conclusion.

On Sept 9th 2011 at this same location, the scene in the sky and water was absolutely wild - I had never seen reds like that and believe it or not, I have not published a single one here at PN because the intensity of the reds are not credible to the viewers here. I would have to de-saturate it to a point where it would not represent reality. The sky on that September date was much more intense than what you are seeing in this image.

All the very best,

Tony, I can't add anything that's not been said, but I like this one very much. You must be pleased with it too.  Aloha.

...the various comments I have to say that I wholeheartedly agree. This is a FANTASTIC photo and nothing needs to be done different as far as I concerned.

The line of the grass, wall and shoreline lead nicely to the horizon where the fascinating mix of reds, yellows, blacks and greys start. The reflections are the water are also quite impressive and the colors make you want to stare at this one.

For my part I love it and it serves as a wonderful autumn scene.

Adding it to my favorites.

7/7.
