Mike Gallo 0 Posted November 3, 2011 Mark IV, 300/2.8 II + 1.4X III, 1/800 @ f/7.1, ISO 800, cropped about 20% left & bottom (vegetation) As I was driving away from a local pond I spotted this heron fishing, so stopped the car and ran out, grabbing the nearest available body, and fired away. Lighting was not ideal, but it is what it is. Link to comment

johne37179 29 Posted November 3, 2011 You keep this up and you'll have a frog in your throat! Link to comment
jyfoto 1 Posted November 3, 2011 Indeed great timing for one of those "moment of truth" shots. Looks like the frog has resigned itself to its fate. Sensational capture. Link to comment
lintrathen 15 Posted November 3, 2011 ........ a great capture and your story tells of an all too frequent occurance, but with less spectacular results in most cases. You have captured this image with perfect timing and your crop/presentation emphasises the dynamics of the moment very well. I just thought that the overall image lacked some colour, and maybe the "pop" factor. In PSE I just used the autofix levels to see how the colour may be improved, and wondered if the image now had a touch of "pop" as well. Hope you don't mind.Still a great visual.......... well done.Regards Link to comment
photodonn 0 Posted November 4, 2011 Great work to leap into action and get this image. I don't think the timing could be better. Sure, if you want to complain about lighting I guess if you could have told the bird to take a different angle you might not have the frog's eye in a shadow, and I guess you could ask for him to do this during the magic hour when you're all set up for him, but c'mon! This is an outstanding image, and altogether as interesting as any hunting/feeding bird image that I've seen. Bravo. Link to comment
