Very nice idea!

A few suggestions:

Composition: Could be improved in this staged shot by asking the person throwing the rock to change direction towards the right of the frame and keep their arm stretched after to rock takes flight. This way the big rocks on the shore and the figure will create some leading lines towards the flying rock and also your entire frame will be more balanced.

Shooting technique: Using an iPhone in low light must be really challenging. Perhaps finding some support for the arms (a big rock?) could improve the sharpness for the foregound elements.

Postprocessing: You really need to straighten the horizon!

And really nice that you are shooting with the iPhone. At all times the best camera is the one you have with you!

Thanks Alex.

This picture wasn't staged i just saw the girl throwing the rock and luckily took the photo at just the right time. I see what you mean about changing the direction to get the lines though. Good advice for the future! Also thanks for pointing out the horizon i never spot that, it's a recurring problem i have, but i'm looking out for it more now.

Thanks again

Charley

Hello here. For me the picture works as it is. Well, almost... The slanted horizon in the original picture was an issue, now resolved. I wouldn't wish to change anything else for my part.

I am also quite astonished to see how good a picture taken from what is basically a phone+ could be (at least on a screen).

Regards. Mj
