One does, what could have that bad, bad title been?  Very beautiful sir.  The lens has aggressive blur which works superbly with the needles.  best, j

I wonder what the original title was and I wonder what it meant?  It adds some intrigue and mystery.  The photo may not say much, it appears that the flowers are artificial and rained on in a kind of otherwise dead patch of ground.  But it does have an interesting quality to it, maybe it's the season, maybe it's the cool beachground blur and maybe it's the pink color that kind of pops off the background.

At any rate, I saw your name on my friend list and jumped over to see what you were doing.  I am pleased to see you with the same curious view of things in the world.  I have to make it back here on a more regular basis.

Your titles amuse!  I don't know your original one, but this seems like a comment on they stole everything...even the natural flowers!  Interesting!!

Graves, cemeteries, and all burial grounds are obviously causal of poignancy and loss, but I've always found plastic flowers, particularly if they are faded, to be something that elicits a heightened sense of sadness and depression within me. They have a way of looking so forlorn. I can't figure out why, but they do that even more than real flowers that have wilted and decayed. You're the head guy, so maybe you can explain it.

Koushik:  Usually, a dead center composition is boring, but here, I thought I needed to make my point and get the hell out of the way.

Trisha:  This was taken in a somewhat abandoned cemetery in Charleston.  Many of the stones had crumbled and sunk into the mud.  And then I saw this odd little bouquet, kind of grimy, doing its best to bring some plastic cheer.  It made me sad.

Jamie:  The original title was something like "Fake Flowers.  Abandoned Cemetery."  Too literal, I suppose.

Ruud:  Glad you like the colors.

Bob:  Even the rain on the flowers was fake.  Little acrylic drops.  I find myself less inclined to make grand, sweeping visual statements these days.  I like "hey....that's weird!" type of shots.

Donna:  Life is a Ponzi scheme.  Death squares the books.  Grief fades.  Plastic is forever.

David:  I can barely understand my own emotional reactions let alone doing tarot card readings on others.  But I have the same basic reaction that you do.  I think that these plastic flowers seem so pathetic, especially in contrast to the dead needles.  Almost manufactured grief, as if plopping them atop a grave fools the corpse into believing that they are perpetually cared for.  Maybe they are.  I hope they are.

What I like here is the vivid colors of the roses and the way they were imitating the real ones. Cemeteries are usually sad as they speak of an end, the roses color may be telling of continuation, who knows? nice contrast  Jeff.

Jeff, as so often, I find your work thought provoking. Bright pink, in my mind, is a happy colour. This artifical pink has such a melancholy feel. Fresh flowers wither and die, pink plasitic roses weeping artificial tears last forever.

“Natural beauty is essentially temporary and sad; hence the impression of obscene mockery which artificial flowers give us.” John Updike
