knweinhold 0 Posted November 7, 2011 To me the foreground distracts me from the much more majestic background, and this is because the left-to-right diagonal divides the photo by 1/2, forcing me to choose to look at either the foreground/bottom or background/top. This gives me an unsettled feeling -- which may be a good thing since it reflects the feeling one would expect in being at the top of these mountains. I find myself wanting a little more sky and a little less bottom-right to balance out the shot (but again that doesn't mean the photo needs such). The longer I look at the photo the more my eyes blank out the lower half of the shot -- not a complaint, as this may be the author's desired result. The orange is fabulous and really ties the photo together.I would agree that the clouds are not exceptional.I could go for a little more brightness and contrast overall, but the current settings probably reflect the true look much better as is. Lou_Meluso 266 Posted November 7, 2011 I like the picture. It has a wonderful dramatic feel of the high mountains. I thought I might want to see more sky but I feel the photographer decided the "lead in" effect was a better choice of crop. I cannot disagree. It does force the perspective and feeling of depth more. My only quibble, and it's a minor one, is that the very saturated orange color on the near left ridge pulls my eye and interrupts it's smooth travel to the long ridge and sky. I might have toned that down a bit. Link to comment
simay_zsolt 0 Posted November 7, 2011 Thanks for everybody for commenting on this photo, I appreciate all of them. As for some background information, there were 2 different exposures, one for the mountain, and one for the sky. It was taken in the Transylvanian Carpathians, Romania, before sunset. Link to comment
ty_mickan 1 Posted November 8, 2011 Colour landscapes aren't really my thing, but I do like this one. Link to comment
