Glad to be the first to add few words to this wonderful landscape, I am impressed with the high technical quality of your well balanced lighting here and the amazing and very effective DOF as the details obtained are of very fine nature, the colors are superb, specially out of the clouded sky, I am also impressed with your great and well thought off composition.

Thank you for sharing it and wishing you all of the best.

The foreground is terrific leading me to the city beyond and the clouds are magnificent. Beautifully captured landscape.

Sensational moment expertly captured! That was some sky, and you handled it very well. I love the understory in the foreground; sort of like a visual launch pad into a dynamic scene of transient light! Nice work Linda!!

Hello Linda,

Well Done.  The lighter foreground, dark middle part, the sun, the darker clouds, make an excellent layered image.

Excellent work,

Ben

Beautiful foreground detail Linda, and my eye is immediately drawn to that fantastic sky. The cloud formations are wonderful, as is the beautiful sunlight streaming through the clouds, illuminating the lake below and mountains in the distance.

A lovely composition and so well captured. Another fine addition to your Portfolio.

My warmest regards,

Gail

Linda, that's one wondrous sunset that you have captured. I'm assuming that it is a blen. How many shots are in it, and how did you blend it. It doesn't look like an easy job.

Thanks very much everyone. I really appreciate your kind words and support.

Being able to watch incredible sunrises and sunsets from my home almost every night inspires me. I feel so lucky to live where I do.

Jeff, yes this is a blended image. This is a great way to capture the awesome vistas that I love so much.  I have been experimenting with blending lately. There are three images here in this one. They were all taken hand held and there was no photo stitch software used. I brought the images together on one page in Photoshop, lined them up and used the eraser tool and merged. I want to try some horizontal panoramas next. It wasn’t difficult. I used a lot of ram when working on it. I haven’t perfected this yet at all but I am enjoying discovering the possibilities.

Best wishes,

Linda

Thanks Linda. I am working on blends too and am very interested in how other folks are doing them. It seems that there are as many ways to do it as there are images to challenge the technique.

Thanks so much. It is good to hear from you.

Jeff, yes, that is true. It opens up a world of opportunities, I have been having fun with it. Are you doing it with software or
not? Just curious.

Best wishes,

Linda

Linda, I'm using Helicon Focus to blend near/far images and PS for skies with masks. My general observation is that most people do blends badly with all sorts of haloes showing up or dark lines along edges. The layering/masking technique is giving me good results but I've still got a long way to go. I can see grads being a thing of the past though. That is except for long exposure seascapes where time is a significant element in the composition.

I'm impressed! Not only with the beautiful landscape, and the balance of light and colour, but with the way you have blended and processed it. It looks really good! Just a thought for the next one, you might try a multi point focus in order to get front to back definition / sharpness. Thats not a criiticism of this one, I really like it. Excellent work Linda!

Best Regards

Alf

Linda, that's a sky to die for -- it's incredibly complex and beautiful.  Like Alf, I'm struck and impressed not only with the beauty in your landscape, but the technical skill you've employed to produce this.  Both are exceptional.
