Charming!  I like the inclusion of the bit on the right that keeps the eye stationary.  Nice bits of detail.  Clever title -- as always

Looks very much Amsterdam ,the city of bikes,  in early morning. Good DOF and atmospher. Being alone in the street at daytime... forget it...;-))

Jamie:  I've been mining the classics, trying to emulating the old masters.

Donna:  Thanks.  The little details creeping up the side were what inspired this shot (as well as the great Dutch light).

Pnina:  Hard to believe, but this was about 10 a.m. on a Sunday on a side street.  I had to wait a bit for a clump of bicyclists to pass through to isolate one person.  The light was so fantastic.

Really has a timeless look to it, the tones (especially the lighter ones) really blow me away.  Love the bikes to the right/cars to the left thing going on and there is amazing depth. This is a joy to look at.

Lovely soft light and wonderful perspective, Jeff.... The curled barbed wire at the top right, is a nice little bonus & echoes your 'circular logic' well :-)

It must have taken awhile for you to isolate this one lone cyclist.  I love this simple image and the wonderful lighting depicting early morning.  At first the lights hanging in the middle of the street bothered me, but the more I looked at them, they actually started leading my eye down the street and through the scene.   This looks very much like Amsterdam.  But I suspect it's somewhere in Boston??

Remember, Picasso supposedly said, "Good artists copy. Great artists steal."  I thought it was, "Hacks copy, artists steal," and I thought it was Andy Warhol.  Quentin Tarantino IS quoted as saying, "Real artists steal. Hacks do homages."  Which is he?  best, j

Maybe a classic in its own right, there is certainly a poignant atmosphere with the lone rider making progress into the otherwise empty street, I agree with Christal, it certainly does have a look of Amsterdam, the cycles being the trade mark of every street and the architecture not dissimilar either.

Best Regards

Alf

Classic quality. Your ability to keep such distinct detail while pulling out such a variety of tones is fantastic.  One of your best!  ~~~~~L

I suddenly realized how your photos always make me feel like going somewhere other than where I'm at. I like the bright diffused light flooding in from above and illuminating all the detail in the structures and the street. Cars to the left, bikes to the right. I like it.

Amazing light and capture - from dark to light. In an image like this I TRY TO ABSORB AS MANY DETAILS as possible and the most upper right portion of the image there are circular objects which I associated with the type of razor wire at the top of a prison wall - the type you see in the movies (*_*).  I know that titles can  provide insights to something that the artist and/or the photographer wanted the viewer to notice but unfortunately I have drawn a blank. Could the buildings on the left be a type of circuit board with circular logic?   Perhaps it is the circular wheels and logic that we move back to that mode of transport!

All the best and thanks for stopping by one of my images recently.

I saw this last night and looked at it for a long time. Meant to comment but didn't. I like this image very much as it really draws me into the scene.

I really like the tonal values in here, with the lighter buildings on the other side of the street. This holds particular favor to me in that the bicycle is my main mode of transport.

Nice work Jeff.

With Regard, Todd
