Excellent capture, Donna with telling expression and environment. I would try to crop out lighter areas around the frame. (but it wuold be another shot and, probably, another story...)

I like this one a lot too & personally like it the best of your series. You captured a bit of wistful melancholy in his gaze... I like the way he is partially positioned in the frame of the door as well -- not sure about cropping out part of the white wall (maybe only on one side - LHS..? and possibly a bit from the top...?) BTW, = nice b&w tonal range.  Did you meet any other PN photographers by any chance, while there...  :-)

Excellent moment to catch. His left eye really stands out, and that look on his face, somewhat like - just going through the motions of life, so much has happened already, little things won't bother me.

Street photography at it's best.

Vlad, Marjolein, Sid, Sveta... grazie much friends for tolerating the trade-off i needed to make between technique and quickly capturing characters on-the-fly. i come from a very italian italian-american family from New Jersey and New York... and Rome is so swarming with tourists most the time that i wanted my camera to seek out in a few days in Rome the characters i know so well at home in my family in america. grazie so much for understanding ;-} dp

grazie Panayotis... your rendering is a wonderful appreciation for this wonderful scene... i realize that i am too fond of the rules i do not follow in my pictures, and am so glad that you suggested a proper job of it! ; hi M, HCB not intended, but just shows how influential he naturally is. ;-} dp

Donna,

Had to check out your portfolio after receiving your nice feedback. This one struck me in particular... wonderful framing of his face... and I love all the texture captured in the background.  Will be stopping by again!

Ciao... Amelia

I've always listened closely to your views on the world and on photography, BB... Always respected you.. it's good to know you can still speak your considerable mind... It's good to know you're watching ;~} dp

every time I look at this shot the man's distrustful look immediately grabs my attention. The photo is cleverly composed and the numerous rectangles of different size which it consists of, makes it nearly humorous. Panayotis's suggestion is reasonable. Good street photography Donna.
