I have definately corrupted your literacy, all I have to do now is figure out who corrupted mine : - )  Too many wine gums maybe!

Many thanks for your thoughts and idea's, very much appreciated. There is a definate divide between the viewers perceptions of the foreground in this image, some see it as an obstacle that blocks the view, whilst others see it as a contrasting foreground with a view beyond. I like it because I broke the rules with this one, and to some degree it works.

Best Wishes

An exceptionally beautiful scene.  Love the crisp foreground against the gentle blue background - so serene and soothing.  The foreground pebbles don't worry me - for me, they lead the eye to the island, where I would love to be standing right now to enjoy this majestic view.

Alf, I was looking through the comments before adding my thoughts. Steve Penland said it better than I would have. To my eye, this is a number of competing images which lack cohesion. Shots like this give us an opportunity to elevate our images to a different level. My digital dustbin is full of near misses.

Many thanks for your interest and for sharing your thoughts, very much appreciated. You touched on a good point in as much as, actually standing on the island would offer a better vantage point to view the surroundings, and will probably come as no surprise that I did just that and took a few shots which I will post at some point in the future.

Many thanks for your interest and thoughts, much appreciated. Indeed Stephen did summarise the series of images with thier different compositional configurations very well, and I have to say that I also agree with him to some extent too. The latter two images "Softly" and this one  "Tiny Islands" were posted as examples of "barriers" or "no barriers" respectively, a subject that arose from an interesting debate that started from a comment to the former image "Veils of Derwent", of course it takes some reading, but I found the subject fascinating and just happened to have examples of relevant images that I took on the same morning as "Veils" hence me posting them to continue the discussion.  I know just what you mean about a "full digital dustbin"  but don't be too hasty discarding them altogether. One image in particular "No Mans Island" was headed straight for the recycle bin and a friend stopped me before I hit the delete button. I eventually posted it, and to my surprise it was very well recieved.

Cheers Jeff

Alf
