alfbailey 3 Posted October 23, 2011 Good to hear from you, I hope you are keeping well. I can't even remember how the discussion started, I think it was a response to a question I asked about "Veils of Derwent" regarding foreground boulders, but theres been some great information and viewpoints posted for which I'm very grateful for.Thats a very interesting choice of landscape lens, if it is the Nikkor 70 - 200 mm f2.8 lens you are referring to, then it is an exceptoional lens in terms of image quality. But I think I would struggle on composition with foreground items too. I prefer the 24 - 70mm f2.8 or for extreme wide shots I don't think you can beat the 14 - 24mm f2.8. This image is one that I wasn't at all sure of, the composition is ok, but I don't know if the colours appear too surreal.Sincere thanks for your thoughtful feedback Jim, very much appreciated!Kind RegardsAlf Link to comment
ldavidson 4 Posted October 23, 2011 Alf, is this the real world or a dream? There is a soft, tranquil atmosphere here that is so other worldly. I love the softness, the colours, the composition, all make for a very beautiful image. Link to comment
ndj 0 Posted October 23, 2011 While the mauve might be a bit overdone, this is a superb image to view Alf! A great example that not all images need to be direct reflection on reality, but can be subject to artistic interpretation. This a superb image to reflect upon, and has a very tranquil mood to it. This'd be great printed large and hung in a psychiatrist's office ;-) Excellent work Alf!All the best,Neil Link to comment
alfbailey 3 Posted October 23, 2011 LINDAWell, .....it was definately the real world when I took the photo, : - ) but I have boosted the colours, and I think maybe too much, though it would seem to appeal to some who like yourself can see an "other worldy" aspect. The softness is courtesy of the 30 sec exposure. Many thanks for your imput Linda, it is very appreciated!Best RegardsAlfNEILThis is one that I might process again with a more subtle approach : - ) I think I might have got away with the colours here simply because of the dreamy kind of atmosphere, but in all honesty I think I messed up and could do it better. I like the thought of it hanging in a psychiatrists office, of course all would be well, untill the psychiatrist had a photographer as a patient : - )Sincere thanks for your thoughts and feedback Neil, it is very much appreciated.Best RegardsAlf Link to comment
